As M-AAA’s Program Communications Manager, my job is to build relationships with clients across the country and promote our program offerings through e-mail marketing, website updates, social media, conference attendance, and direct mail. My job is not only to communicate with our constituents, but also to help them promote our programming (such as our traveling exhibitions) in their communities. For each exhibition, I provide hosting venues with complete press kits that include sample social media plans, press releases, public service announcements, and high-res images.
I also spend a large amount of time traveling to museums, libraries, and cultural institutions across the country. My job is to learn about what they’re doing, what their needs are, and how we can shape our programs to meet those needs. It is imperative that I be up-to-date on the latest in museum technology and media so that I can better serve our clients.
